The tourist ILP is initially valid for 15 days from the date of issuance. If you wish to extend your stay in this captivating region, you can request an extension, allowing you to explore Arunachal Pradesh for a maximum of 30 days from the date of your visit.
For Foreign Tourists
Foreign tourists must obtain a Restricted Area Permit (RAP) in advance, and this permit can only be obtained from New Delhi or Kolkata. In Guwahati, travel agents have the option to facilitate this permit for private groups consisting of two or more individuals.
These permits will be essential for presentation at official checkpoints and the hotels you’ll be lodging at during your stay. Thus, it is imperative to have multiple physical copies of the permit in your possession for seamless travel and accommodation.

How to reach Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh boasts three airports within the state – Ziro, Along, and Tezu, primarily served by connecting flights from Guwahati and Kolkata. The most well-connected airport to the rest of the country is Guwahati. However, depending on your destination within Arunachal Pradesh, you may also consider flights to Tezpur and Dibrugarh.
For this itinerary, we’ll use Guwahati as our starting point, which is 311 kilometers from Itanagar, the state capital and our first stop.

The nearest train station linking Arunachal Pradesh to major Indian cities is the Harmuti railway station in Assam, situated approximately 43 kilometers from Itanagar. From Harmuti, you can conveniently access the state by bus or hire a taxi to reach your destination.
Arunachal Pradesh By Road
Arunachal Pradesh is most accessible by road and well-connected to nearby states and cities. The state offers an extensive network of state transport buses for both intra-state travel and connections to neighboring states. Additionally, the well-established taxi network is a preferred mode of transportation for most tourists due to its reliability compared to buses.
Best time to visit Arunachal Pradesh
Due to its varied terrain, Arunachal Pradesh experiences a wide range of weather conditions. Summers tend to be warm, with temperatures reaching up to 35ºC, while winters bring cold and chilly conditions, with sub-zero temperatures in some areas. The monsoon season brings heavy rainfall, making it less advisable to visit during this time. Peak summer months are from May to June, monsoons from July to September, and winters from October to February.
