Ahmedabad to Idar Bike Trip: Monsoon Ride, Temples & Trekking Adventure

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

On 24th August 2025, I kickstarted my bike — a Yamaha FZS Hybrid — at 7:00 AM from Ahmedabad for an adventurous ride to Idar Hills, Gujarat. The day was made for travel: cloudy skies, fresh air, and a steady drizzle that stayed with me almost the entire way. With my riding gear, helmet, and raincoat, I was fully prepared to embrace the monsoon vibes of this road trip.

The Journey from Ahmedabad to Idar

The distance from Ahmedabad to Idar is around 115 km, and the best route goes via Gandhinagar → Himmatnagar → Idar. The roads were smooth and surrounded by lush greenery thanks to the rains. I took a few tea breaks at roadside stalls and enjoyed the peaceful highway ride with light traffic.

One memorable moment on the way was meeting a curious squirrel that came close while I was taking a short break. I couldn’t resist sharing some potato chips with it straight from my hand — a small yet heartwarming encounter that made this trip even more special.

Temples to Visit in Idar Before Trekking

Before starting the trek, Idar welcomes you with its spiritual side. I visited several beautiful temples located near the base of the hills:

  • Hinglaj Mata Mandir
  • Vrajeshwari Mataji Mandir
  • Hanumanji Mandir
  • Shivji Mandir
  • Shree 1008 Adinath Digambar Jain Temple

Each temple has its own charm, and visiting them before trekking filled me with peace and positivity.

Trekking in Idar Hills

After the temple visits, it was time for the real adventure — trekking up the Idar Hills. The rocks glistened in the rain, making the climb both challenging and refreshing. Some of the key attractions during the trek included:

  • Idar Fort: A historic fort offering panoramic views of the town.
  • Sunrise Point: A perfect spot to witness breathtaking landscapes, even though clouds were playing hide and seek that day.
  • Ruthi Rani no Mahal (Palace of the Angry Queen): Located at the top of the hills, this structure carries fascinating legends and gives a sense of stepping back in time.

The trek was filled with greenery, mist, and cool monsoon winds, making every step worthwhile.

Post-Trek Refreshment

After trekking and exploring the hilltop sites, I returned to the base and once again offered prayers at the temples. The best way to wrap up the trip was with a hot cup of chai and some delicious Gujarati snacks at a small local shop near the foothills. Trust me, nothing tastes better than garma-garam chai after a rainy-day trek!
